“Daddy” King at the 1977 Presidential Inauguration

During this inspirational 2009 inaugural celebration, I am very mindful of the road that has brought us to the present. Today, Jan. 19, is the day when we honor Martin Luther King, Jr., for all he did for America, and for all that he and his loved ones gave for his beliefs. I’ve also learned more today about all that was given by his father, Rev. Martin Luther King, Sr., or “Daddy King.” This great man, father of such a wonderful man, carried on after his two remarkable boys and his wife all were slain. Carrying on to the best of his magnificent abilities, he helped Jimmy Carter enter the White House in 1977, and is shown here on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on the day of President Carter’s inauguration in 1977. In so many ways, despite everything, that was still a great day for Daddy King. I can only imagine how proud he would be of so many in our country today, 32 years later.

  1. Still, those competitors of yours are probably new to the job as well and if they do not know what to do then you have an edge over them. You are too comfortable having done the same thing the same way for too long.
