World Water Day: Be the change

On World Water Day, we all are being challenged to change the ways we use, consume, and manage water. The international event dates back to 1992 when the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development made a recommendation. The following year, 22 March was established as World Water Day. UN-Water sets the theme each year. This year’s “Be the change” theme is an open call for innovation that begins with each of us.

The promises made by individuals on the campaign website will contribute to the Water Action Agenda – a main outcome of the UN 2023 Water Conference, which opens on World Water Day.
