Ready for International Coastal Cleanup Day?

In partnership with volunteer organizations and individuals around the globe, the International Coastal Cleanup(R) (ICC) engages people to remove trash from the world’s beaches and waterways. Each year since 1986, it has been celebrated on the third Saturday of September. This year, it is set for 21 September.

ICC was first established due to the pioneering efforts of Ocean Conservancy’s Linda Maraniss and Kathy O’Hara, who have dedicated themselves to creating evidence-based solutions for a healthy ocean – and the wildlife and communities that depend on it. Thanks to millions of volunteers around the world, the ICC has become a beacon of hope, leading and inspiring positive action in support of our ocean. Since its beginning, more than 18 million volunteers have collected more than 350 million pounds of trash.

Please consider joining the volunteers around the world for the largest cleanup event of the year! To learn more about cleanups happening in your region – or create your own event – check out #SeatheChange.

In California, this will be the Coastal Cleanup Day’s 40th Anniversary. You can find more information here, thanks to nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization Save Our Shores, environmental nonprofit Heal the Bay, and the California Coastal Commission.
